This is a limited release - we only purchased 130# of the beans to age in the barrel.

Featuring beans from the Huila region of Columbia, aged in an Amaretto soaked Bourbon Barrel and roasted to perfection.  This Medium Roast is the best of both worlds!  Note: There is no alcohol content in these beans!  This barrel was thirsty!  We soaked it in over 6,500 mL of Amaretto and a little of the original NULU Bourbon for more than 3 months.  There were a few small leaks but we didn't loose much.  Then we drained the barrel and only got about 500 mL back out.  Whew!  After it sat for a bit we added our first batch of beans.  It's a long term process but the results are worth it!

The name comes from a drink from the movie "The Godfather" - an Amaretto and Whisky blend - but we have to throw in our Elk Twist.   We hit an elk while driving out to retrieve our roaster in Montana in 2021 and we like to have fun with Elk names whenever we have a blend.

Our coffee is sold in sealed, zippered, bags with valves.   This bean will only be sold in 1/2 pound size.

Beans will be shipped as "Whole Bean" unless you add a note at check out.  Please specify the grind required (Coarse, Medium, Fine, ~or~ French Press, Drip, Pour Over, Keurig, or Espresso)

Coffee CANNOT be shipped via Media Mail!

Prices include tax

Tasting Notes:

We start out with organic beans that have notes of Milk Chocolate, Brown Sugar and Cherry in a typical roast.  After hanging out with the spicy, sweetness of the Amaretto and Bourbon Barrel, roasting brought out flavors of Almond and tart cherry with a sweet finish.  The heat of roasting didn't chase away the bourbon aroma which makes for a delightful sipping coffee.

About the Barrel

Born in Kentucky at Prohibition Craft Distillers - It originally held NULU Double Oaked Single Barrel Bourbon.

About the Bean Origin:

The Huila region is always a favorite when it comes to Colombian coffee. In addition to high-quality – and often award-winning – green coffee beans, Huila is celebrated for its distinctly delicate cup profile, which features bright acidity, sweetness, and a fragrant aroma.

Huila’s proximity to the equator and it is rich with volcanic soil. Coffee from Huila has a signature profile: fruit and caramel notes, sweet acidity, and intense aromas. Huila’s two harvests occur between September – December (main crop) and April – May/June (mitaca crop).  This batch is from the Main Crop.
